Chris Heagarty lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a former state legislator and is currently an attorney of counsel with Mel Black & Associates and a trained mediator. He has represented clients in administrative law matters, disciplinary hearings, and matters of civil litigation. Chris is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and has been admitted to appear in the Eastern and Western Federal District Courts in North Carolina.

Chris has over fifteen years of experience working with trade associations and successful non-profit organizations, with a proven track record of successfully helping citizens solve problems or disputes with government entities. In part due to his knowledge of the legislative process, he was appointed to the North Carolina House in late 2009 and served through 2010. He was a member of the House Select Committee on Home Owners Associations and successfully sponsored legislation to protect citizens’ privacy rights and to promote economic development, particularly in high tech fields.

Chris is a nationally recognized expert on state judicial systems and a frequent public speaker and commentator on issues of election law and campaign reform.
